Hasui Kawase is a Japanese painter and illustrator born in 1883 and died in 1957. He belongs to the Shin-Hanga movement or pictorial revival. The artist creates canvases with poetic and serene atmospheres, as in this print representing Zojoji, a Buddhist temple located in the Shiba district of Tokyo.
